A good nickname is not only fitting but also known by the masses. On the route today between Montrose and Gunnison I was feeling beat down by the wind, the hills, and the cumulative affects of nearly a week in the saddle, amongst other things.
I was passed by fast cyclists and slower ones. I was passed by single bikers and tandems. I was passed by blue bikes and red bikes and black bikes and white bikes. My back of the envelope calculation is that 1900 riders passed me today, and nearly everyone of them called me "On Your Left"!
I bet I'll hear more of my new nickname tomorrow, too! But that's ok. One pass to go; and I'm feeling like the 'Little Engine That Could'! Every peddle stroke will put me that much closer to the end, and to home!
